For more than 28 years, Larry and Jon have partnered side-by-side to build high-quality homes throughout Putnam County, Cookeville, and the surrounding Middle Tennessee communities. What began as two dedicated craftsmen working together has grown into a reputation for honest communication, careful attention to detail, and homes that families are proud to own for decades.
We are not a high-volume production builder. We are local builders who take personal pride in every project that carries the L & J name.
Our Story
Larry and Jon have deep roots in the Cookeville area and strong family ties to the community. Over the years we have built custom homes on clients’ land, quality speculative homes for sale, and thoughtful remodels and additions. We understand what makes this part of Tennessee special — the rolling hills, the lake views, the quiet family-friendly neighborhoods, and the desire for a home that truly fits the land and the people who will live in it.
We have also guided dozens of families relocating from out of state through the entire process. From the first conversation about their vision, through site preparation and permitting, to the final walkthrough, we make the journey as clear and straightforward as possible.

How We Work
We handle the full process for custom homes built on your land — site evaluation, permitting, construction, and final details. We also build select speculative homes when the right opportunity arises, and we take on remodels and additions with the same standards we apply to new construction.
Our goal is simple: deliver a home you will love living in and a building experience you will feel good about recommending to others.
